A weekend is the worst time for a crown or filling to fall out: the clinic is closed and the tooth is left exposed. Here's what you can do while you wait for us to open.
What to do in the first few hours
If there's no severe pain, it isn't a serious emergency. Avoid chewing with that tooth, keep the piece if you still have it, and keep gentle hygiene in the area without scrubbing hard. If you have orthodontic wax or something similar, you can cover the sharp edge to stop it rubbing against your tongue or cheek.
When it is urgent
If severe pain, bleeding that won't stop, or swelling appears, check the emergency triage to find out the severity level and how to reach us.
What happens on Monday
At the first appointment we assess whether the same crown can be re-cemented, whether a new one is needed, or whether the tooth needs root canal treatment before being covered again.
